OUTTA THE BOX: Combining Music and Art
Follow the directions below, adn they will take you to the SF Symphony's Match the Music play around with putting together Great Art and snippets of Great Music. You can "match" and create interesting combinations (juxtapositions). There are NO NO NO right or wrong answers. Have Fun.
Here are the directions:
1) go to Keeping Score: Tchaikovsky: A musical diary
............................. (if that doesn't work, use this and scroll down to Mr T)
2)Find Primal Moves; click on Enter
3) Click on Match the Music. voila! You've found it!
The video of the SF Symphony conductor, MT Thomas, is pretty interesting as he drives around SF and talks about "music" we hear throughout our day.
Should you decide to comment below, please consider telling us the names of matches you made by giving music title and picture title. OR write whatever you want...but try to go beyond "this is cool." Maybe tell us why it is cool.

I made a very interesting video. I wish I could link it, but I already closed the window. I found this very fun and interesting, so whoever is thinking about making one but decides not to, you are making a horrific choice. Thank you Ms. Ullner for linking this website to your blog.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I made combined the Impression: Soleil Levant, with the Transfigured night music and it really matched. I tried it with all the songs and three of them really went well with the picture, but one piece of music was my favorite so I went with that one. I also combined The Wedding with Abduction from the Seraglio.I tried to make combine all of them but these were the ones that made more sense. :)
ReplyDeleteThis musical activity was really interesting and got my brain to work. I enjoyed the phenomenal music AND art. Some of my favorite combinations were the Impression: Soliel Levant with the Violin Concerto, The Wedding with the Abduction from the Seraglio. I also thought that The Girl with a Pearl Earing and the Symphony No.1 really matched. Hopefully we will do something like this again since this was extremely fun!!
ReplyDeleteI accidentaly closed my window, too, but I liked comebining Impression with 3 Orchestral Pieces. Which was a boat scence with "scary" music.
ReplyDeleteI think that the people that made this game paired songs with there perfect match, and then scrambled them, because some of the songs and paintings I paired seemed to be made for each other. This was really fun, and I saw some new (well new to me) artwork, and heard some beautiful music.:)
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun matching the music with the slides. It helped me stimulated my brain a bit as I heard the music. Along with Georgia, I saw new artwork. Since it was a lot of fun, before I closed my window I added the site with my favorites.
ReplyDeleteIt was very cool having the freedom to mix 'n' match the music with the artwork. I was amazed about how many songs couold match just one piece of art. It was very interesting!! =-)
